"My wow moment is my observation of Parisians. Sleep in Paris. "The louvre hands down. The hotel was very centrally located with easy access to public transportation and the Eiffel Tower. The headsets did not work for the first few days so felt a bit lost, and was also given wrong info about getting back to the hotel.So that was stressful. Another "wow" moment was getting our pockets picked at the Concorde Metro stop (only lost 50 Euros) - we saw in the news that Rick Steves lost much more when his pockets were picked in August (thanks for making us feel better Rick). Thank you for providing whisperers from day one. It has air conditioning! Our guide was extremely helpful with suggestions for transportation and alternative places to visit and to eat. We were able to walk there from the hotel. This morning we'll hop on the Métro, then hike up Montmartre to tour the colorful neighborhood that was the haunt of artistic geniuses a century ago — including Van Gogh, Picasso, and Renoir — and generations of hopeful artists since. Carry your luggage up several flights of stairs to reach your hotel room. One of the best was our trip through Montmartre (came to life/fascinating) and our 2nd group dinner at a wonderful nearby gem of a restaurant with the evening Seine boat tour. Everyone 'sees' art differently based on their art appreciation, knowledge, background, etc. The tour was well organized, fun, and went pretty smoothly. This was my first Rick Steves tour...I'm hooked! And, when we visited the Marais, we had free time to roam the area and found the MOST delicious patisserie and went there twice before we left! It was well structured with a good amount of time spent with the group, but allowing for personal time too.
